NOTE: Because of Apple’s sandboxing restrictions, do NOT use any other browser besides Safari to download the configuration file.

  1. Once the profile is downloaded, go to the Settings menu on your iPhone where you will see the Profile Downloaded option at the top of the screen. Tap on it and and then tap on Install in the upper-right corner. If you don't see the Profile Downloaded option, tap here to download the installer again.
  2. Enter your iPhone passcode to continue.
  3. Tap on Next on the top right corner.
  4. You can safely ignore the Warning screen and tap Install.
  5. At the bottom of the screen, tap Install again to confirm.
  6. The profile has been installed, tap on Done on the top right.
  7. This will bring you back to the 'VPN & Device Management' window, tap Back on the top left.
    • NOTE: Please do NOT use the 'Sign in to Work or School Account' option, that is the wrong login page.
  8. Tap on Settings on the top left to go back to the settings menu.
  9. Tap on Wi-Fi to view the list of available networks to connect to.
  10. Tap eduroam from the list of Available Networks.
  11. Enter your FULL email address (UCInetID@uci.edu) for the username.
  12. Enter your UCInetID password and then tap Join.

Connecting to eduroam

You will need to be in an eduroam zone. A list of current and upcoming eduroam locations can be found at: http://www.eduroamus.org/eduroam_us_institutions

  1. Tap the Settings icon and then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap eduroam from the list of Available Networks.
    • If you are prompted for the login, enter your FULL email address (UCInetID@uci.edu) for the username and your UCInetID password for the password. Then tap Join.

Uninstall previous UCI eduroam (if already installed)

To uninstall the previous eduroam configuration profile in iOS (if you had installed it recently):

  1. On your iOS device, tap the Settings icon and then tap General.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and tap VPN & Device Management.
  3. In the Configuration Profile section, tap the eduroam University California Irvine profile.
  4. On the next screen, tap Remove Profile.
  5. Enter your iPhone passcode to continue.
  6. At the bottom of the screen, tap Remove to confirm the deletion.

Changed your password?

Note: If you’ve recently changed your UCInetID password, you will lose your connection to eduroam (you’ll know you’ve lost the connection if you go into your Wi-Fi settings and notice that there is no checkmark next to eduroam)

Follow these steps to modify your eduroam configuration to enter your new UCInetID password.

  1. Tap the Settings icon and then tap Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap eduroam from the list of Available Networks.
  3. You will see a spinning icon next to it and after a few moments, you will receive a prompt asking you to Enter the password for “eduroam”. Carefully enter your new UCInetID password and then tap Join.
  4. The window will disappear, you should see a checkmark next to eduroam and you will once again be connected.
